Born in Chicago, DeAnn Prosia has been creating prints for over 20 years. She received her education at Northern Illinois University and The Art Institute of Chicago. Prosia only works with lines, trying to create the feeling and texture of other methods, such as aquatint. She is very organized and detail oriented which is evident in her work by the tight-knit lines of her etchings. She uses a sewing needle as her etching tool to get very fine lines. Etchings that are approximately 2” x 2” can take up to 20 hours to create. Her largest works take over 200 hours of work. Prosia inks and hand pulls her own prints.
